The Studio

Based in Berlin, KUBENKA is a creative studio shaping thoughtful surroundings through architecture, furniture and spatial interventions. Moving across scales—from residential and retail to event-based installations—the practice blends diverse references to develop concepts that prioritize atmospheric depth and functional precision. The work is defined by a pursuit to create habitats that feel both intentional and authentically lived-in.

The Person

Founded by Svenja Krüger, the studio is a tribute to her late grandfather, W.K., a carpenter and interior architect who passed down a lifelong appreciation for craftsmanship and fine arts. By carrying his name forward, Svenja translates this heritage into a modern practice focused on the tactile interplay of light and form. Her approach explores the dialogue between the individual and their environment, rooted in the understanding that while we shape our spaces, our spaces in turn shape us.

The Philosophy

KUBENKA is guided by the honesty of materials, favoring the raw characteristics of wood and steel over superficial finishes. The vision is defined by a sustainable, context-driven approach—sourcing locally whenever possible to create modern classics that endure. By stripping back to the essentials, the studio uncovers a timeless elegance that balances radical appearances with uncompromising quality, embodied in both spaces and objects.
